After intense competition between the 46 teams that took part in the 3rd Indraprastha National Moot Court Competition 2014, we’ve come down to the final 2 titans. Now, is the time for the final of the 2014 INMCC.

Amid a packed courtroom, amidst legal luminaries, the finalists start with the final round round of the moot competition. Stay tuned to the live blog!

3:06PM: The counsel for the petitioner rises, and declares the first issue on behalf of the petitioners.

3:11PM: Hon’ble Justice AK Sikri asks the counsel the principle for clubbing cases; the response seems uncertain.

3:14PM: The panel raises a question pertaining to Section 33 of the IPC. The counsel takes the questions confidently. However, the bench seems unconvinced with the response.

3:19PM: The counsel proceeds with his arguments. Uninterrupted, he sums up the second argument and proceeds further.

3:25PM: The panel puts forth some tough questions. The counsel seems to be in a fix, but continues nonetheless.

3:25PM: The counsel begins with the third issue. The panel straight away asks a question pertaining to alternate remedy. Meanwhile, a few laughs as the panel shows it’s lighter side.

3:25PM: The co-counsel for the petitioner begins with the second argument. A smooth and efficient orator. The panel listens in rapt attention.

3:35PM: The bench, comprising of Hon’ble Justice AK Sikri, Hon’ble Justice UU Lalit, Hon’ble Justice Mukta Gupta, Hon’ble Justice GS Sistani, Senior Adv Sidharth Luthra, and Prof (Dr) M Afzal Wani listen to the co-counsel on behalf of the petitioner with absolute attention.

3:38PM: The bench decides to make life difficult for the counsel, repeatedly putting forth questions. The journey from the second argument to the third one seems to be a long one.

3:46PM: The bench seems unconvinced with the second issue raised by the counsel, asking for clarifications continuously. The counsel tries to provide with some clarifications. The counsel tries to provide with some clarifications. Hon’ble Justice AK Sikri and Hon’ble Justice UU Lalit finally have the co-counsel in a corner on the question of clubbing of cases.

3:48PM: The counsel, with little time in hands, begins with the third argument on behalf of petitioners. The counsel asks permission for an extension of a 3-minute time period. Hon’ble Justice AK Skiri kindly grants an extension for a time period of 1 minute.

3:52PM: The Hon’ble Justice gives the co-counsel an insight into approaching a particular case the right way. Hon’ble Justice AK Sikri shows his humorous side as the auditorium booms with laughter following his comment.

3:55PM: The counsels for the respondents have a shaky start. Hon’ble Justice AK Sikri straight away puts forth a question regarding the issue at hand. The response seems satisfactory.

4:00PM: The bench continues to relentlessly put forth questions forward to the counsel. The nervous-seeming counsel seems shaky to argue in front of this highly learned bench.

4:01PM: Undoubtedly, this bench is hard to impress. An immensely nerve-wrecking Final is on the cards!

4:03PM: The panel raises a serious question. Looks like the pleadings of the counsel aren’t satisfying the panel.

4:05PM: Another round of laughter. This final is a rollercoaster ride.

4:07PM: The Co-counsel for the respondents takes the podium, and is attacked with questions from the bench in her very first minute. A very confidet speaker during the semi finals It would be interesting to see how she tackles the barrage of questions this unforgiving panel possesses.

4:15PM: The first counsel for the respondents wraps up with her submissions.

4:16PM: Taking every question confidently, the Co-counsel continues from where she eft off in the previous rounds. Making of a very keenly fought final round.

4:19PM: Smiles from the panel. The judges finally seem satisfied with the pleadings of the respondents.

4:21PM: The Co-counsel begins with the question of granting of bail. Rapt attention from the panel and total silence in the courtroom.

4:23PM: Taking every question with total confidence and a smile, the Co-counsel at her persuasive best.

4:28PM: The Co-counsel takes a question pertaining to the facts of the case smartly. The judges smile, the Co-counsel continues.

4:28PM: Another round of laughter. The most hilarious National Moots Final you’ll ever witness.

4:28PM: A chink in the armour? The panel finally has the Co-counsel in a sport. Or so it seems.

4:31PM: With just 2 minutes left, the co-counsel trying her best to win it for their team.

4:38PM: The Co-counsel for the petitioner with the rebuttals. This might just swing the fate of the team.

4:38PM: Time’s Up! The co-counsel concludes with the arguments. Another witty comment by Hon’ble Justice AK Sikri as another round of laughter paves way for the rebuttal round.

4:39PM: Time’s Up for the petitioners! Onto the final two minutes of this final of the 3rd Indraprastha National Moot Court Competition 2014. A brilliant journey it has been!

4:42PM: The counsel for the respondents expresses a lot more confidence as she approaches the podium for her rebuttals.

4:43PM: Already over with the rebuttals, the attention shifts to the panel as they deliberate among themselves.
